چکیده
Abstract Introduction Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a recommended first-line psychotherapy treatment for veterans with PTSD. Veterans PTSD are at higher risk sleep disorders including obstructive apnea (OSA), and there evidence that OSA can exacerbate vice versa. Several studies have shown CPAP use associated improvement in symptoms. CPT an effective, yet time resource intensive option, making it critical to identify potential health factors impacting its efficacy. This retrospective chart analysis of diagnosed evaluated the effect adherence on response CPT. Methods Medical records patients seen VA Health Care System were reviewed received between 1-12 sessions documented weekly Checklist DSM-5 (PCL-5) scores, Patient Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) issued machine OSA. Data collected included demographics, (mean use, % days greater than 4 hrs./night mean residual hypopnea index, mask leak), symptoms (PCL-5 PHQ-9 scores). For each outcome, we estimated linear mixed-effects model; models PCL-5 allowed heterogeneous variances veteran. Results study identified 25 receiving access The median age was 43 years, BMI 35.6, AHI 2.4. Patients duration 11.0 weeks. There significant scores over course (both p < .001). least ≥70% did not significantly impact during Residual leak Conclusion While nonadherence appears be contributing factor reduced effectiveness evidence-based treatments PTSD, our revealed regardless adherence. Given nature small sample size this study, further research needed expand these findings. Support (If Any)

Relationships and CPAP adherence among women with obstructive sleep apnea
Background: Obstructive sleep apnea contributes to daytime sleepiness, poor quality of life and increased risk for heart disease and hypertension among women. Continuous positive airway pressure improves sleepiness and quality of life and may reduce health risks but few studies have evaluated predictors of adherence among women. The goal of this study was to evaluate the role of relationship fa...

Untreated obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has numerous negative health-related consequences. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is generally considered the treatment of choice for OSA, but rates of nonadherence are high. It is believed that OSA is more prevalent among men; therefore understanding how OSA presents among women is limited and treatment adherence has received little research ...

Purpose. We hypothesized that socioeconomic factors and a language barrier would impact adherence with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) among Hispanics with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Methods. Patients with OSA who were prescribed CPAP for at least 1 year and completed a questionnaire evaluating demographic data, socioeconomic status, and CPAP knowledge and adherence participated ...

BACKGROUND Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bi-level positive airway pressure (BPAP) are the gold standard treatments for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), but CPAP/BPAP is not well tolerated and requires long-term follow-up. OBJECTIVE We prospectively assessed subjective and objective adherence and factors that affect adherence in OSAS patients. METHODS Subjects using ...

Nursing implications Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a condition whereby breathing is interrupted during sleep. Patients with this condition spend less time in the deep sleep phase of the sleep cycle, leading to daytime sleepiness and problems engaging in activities of daily living. Continuous positive airway pressure provides a constant stream of pressurised air, with the aim of maintaining ...
